To book a Vintage Music Concert — call Ken Lelen at 609-730-9313.
I prefer to talk to the people with whom I work — instead of composing and answering countless emails or texts. I prefer interacting with clients on a more personal level than the Internet affords and I think it's important we jointly identify all the details of a concert, and that involves conversation.
It may take 10 - 15 minutes on the phone to outline the components of a venue or group's event. These typically include: date, start & end time, audience profile, concert space, stage set-up or tech plan, performance fee, hosts and intro, event logistics, accommodations, publicity materials, special requests, etc.
Once we agree on terms, conditions and budget, I'll add the event to my Performance Schedule and mail a Concert Reservation Letter. Then I prepare a Performance Agreement (contract), which identifies the key elements of the concert and relevant obligations of each party. I'll send you two signed copies of the contract as well as invoice, W-9 form, publicity materials, and self-addressed, stamped envelope, so you can sign and return one copy of the contract to confirm the event in writing.
Despite a busy schedule I stay in touch with venue managers and program directors. I also stay abreast of changes in personnel, publicity and logistics that may arise between the initial call and a concert. In addition, a week before an event I'll send an email that re-states the key elements of our concert and asks: "I'm still on for you; are you still on for me?"
Upon receiving my confirmation email, the entertainment director of a community center in central NJ recently sent her thanks: "Usually I have to do the confirming," she said. "You're very efficient."
